West Ham United manager David Moyes says he has been offered a new contract but will wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

The 60-year-old’s existing deal is set to expire in June and his position has come under pressure in recent weeks after overseeing eight games in all competitions without a win.

“Moyes out” banners and placards were visible in the away end at the City Ground on Saturday as West Ham were beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest — but Moyes claimed his future was in his hands.

“I’ve had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady,” he said. “There’s a contract there for me and I’m the one deciding. I want to wait until the end of the season.”

West Ham’s winless run has coincided with the absence of winger Lucas Paqueta, who has been sidelined with a calf injury since the beginning of January.

Moyes confirmed the 26-year-old has returned to training and is in contention to feature against Brentford on Monday.

“Lucas Paqueta is back in training and very close to returning, so that will give us a boost,” Moyes said.

“He’s in contention (for Monday) and we’ll have to see where he is.

“We had Mick (Antonio) back last week, we’ve had Mo (Kudus) back from the AFCON, so it’s good that we’re getting most of the squad back together.”

Moyes guided West Ham to their Europa Conference League triumph last season and his side sit ninth in the Premier League, but have lost their last three and failed to score since the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on February 1.

He defended his tenure following last weekend’s loss to Forest, arguing “it would be hard to say there have been many better times”.
